Pro-Hostage Deal Protesters Block Highway, Confronted with Counter-Protesters
After protests at Hostages Square and nearby Begin Road, demonstrators advocating for a hostage deal moved towards an entrance of the Ayalon Highway. They began blocking the road by jumping over dividers, but were quickly halted by police who pushed them back.
As the protesters gathered on the side of the highway, police officers intervened, pushing, shouting, and arresting several individuals. The highway was briefly blocked before being reopened.
Police also positioned themselves between the anti-government protesters and counter-protesters who appeared nearby. Some anti-government demonstrators alleged that a counter-protester had used pepper spray against them.
