Children of Evacuees Lack School Supplies, Many Not Placed in Schools.
As the new school year approaches on Sunday, a recent survey reveals that many Israeli families evacuated from the northern conflict zone are struggling with school preparations.
The survey indicates that a significant number of these families lack essential school supplies for their children, and a notable portion are still unsure about their children’s school placements.
According to a press release from the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews (IFCJ), 60% of families from the north have reported a shortage of school supplies, and 20% of evacuated parents are uncertain about which school their children will attend when school starts.
The survey, commissioned by the IFCJ and conducted by the Geocartography Group, involved over 800 adult respondents in August. It found that among evacuee families, 35% expect their children to attend a local school in their current area, 32.5% plan for their children to go to temporary schools for evacuee students, and 20% remain uncertain. A small fraction, 2.5%, do not expect their children to attend school at all.
