Netanyahu Proposed Holding Cabinet Meeting at Gaza-Egypt Border, but Request Denied
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu recently explored the possibility of holding a security cabinet meeting at the Philadelphi Corridor, which separates the Gaza Strip from Egypt. However, his proposal was turned down, according to a report.
In the context of negotiations for a hostage release and truce, Netanyahu has insisted on retaining Israeli control over the corridor.
Channel 12, citing unnamed sources close to Netanyahu, reports that the Prime Minister inquired with Shin Bet chief Ronen Bar about the feasibility of transporting ministers to the site in armored vehicles. Netanyahu hoped that a firsthand look would sway them to support his position and underscore the seriousness of his demand.
Bar reportedly declined the request due to the extensive security measures required for such an event in an active war zone.
