A New York Times reporter admitted sharing information about a private Jewish Whatsapp Group, enabling the dissemination of sensitive information that led to doxxing and antisemitic harassment of group members.
The New York Times said they had taken appropriate action against the reporter.
Natasha Frost told the Wall Street Journal that she shared the information on the 600 Australian Jewish creatives seeking support after October 7th, but only with one person.
However, the sharing of this information led to Clementine Ford, a feminist and anti-Israel activist, to disseminate sensitive details about members on a spreadsheet and encourage harassment.
“If you want an insight into how coordinated efforts are to silence Palestinian activists and their allies, you can read the leaked chat here,” Ford wrote at the time.
Natasha Frost told the Journal that she “shared this document with one individual,” but said its “subsequent dissemination and misuse happened entirely without my knowledge or consent.
“I was shocked by these events, which put me and many others at terrible risk. I deeply regret my decision,” Frost said.
