As Israel readies for an Iranian revenge attack, US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin said a guided missile submarine has been deployed to the region.
Although a nuclear-powered submarine, the USS Georgia, has been in the Mediterranean since July, it is unusual for a US Defense Secretary to announce this publicly.
Austin is sending a message to Iran to deter it from attacking Israel making it clear that the US will retaliate against Iranian aggression against the Jewish State.
In addition, the Abraham Lincoln Carrier Strike Group was also deployed to the region.
The Pentagon issued a statement, “Secretary Austin reiterated the United States’ commitment to take every possible step to defend Israel and noted the strengthening of U.S. military force posture and capabilities throughout the Middle East in light of escalating regional tensions.”
