On Thursday, Israel’s Minister of Defense Yoav Gallant, met with Brett McGurk, the White House Coordinator for the Middle East and North Africa, in Tel Aviv.
Gallant and McGurk discussed negotiations for the release of the remaining hostages in Gaza. Crucial to the talks was one of Israel’s demands that the hostage deal and ceasefire agreement would include a provision to prevent arms smuggling into Gaza to prevent Hamas from re-arming.
The two officials also discussed the arrival of munitions that were had held up over concerns about the Rafah operation. After assurances that Israel was going to carry out targeted raids against terrorists rather than full-scale bombardments, the US indicated it would agree to send the munitions.
