Kamala Harris Has Enough Delegates to Become Presidential Nominee–AP
According to an Associated Press Survey, US Vice President Kamala Harris has enough delegates to secure the Democratic nomination for President.
President Biden endorsed Harris after he announced he would not seek reelection.
In that short period of time, Harris broke a 24-hour record for presidential donations on Monday.
According to an Associated Press tally, Harris has the support of at least 2,471 delegates, according to the AP tally of delegates, more than the 1,976 delegates required to win the first ballot.
California state Democratic Chairman Rusty Hicks says 75% to 80% of the state’s delegation were on a call and they unanimously supported Harris.
“I’ve not heard anyone mentioning or calling for any other candidate,” Hicks says. “Tonight’s vote was a momentous one.”
