As the world expresses anger and shock at the IDF’s operation at a Gaza City school, the IDF insists the strike was targeted and eliminated 19 terrorists.
Even Israel’s allies condemned Saturday’s operation on Hamas and Islamic Jihad command room at the Taba’een school in Gaza City after Hamas claimed that 90 people died in the school where many refugees sought shelter.
However, the IDF said footage proves they couldn’t have caused the kind of damage and casualty numbers alleged by Hamas.
The IDF said it used “precision munitions” and said that footage from the strike showed that it caused no damage to the surrounding school complex.
The White House said it was “deeply concerned” about the airstrike and the reported number of civilian casualties.
“We know Hamas has been using schools as locations to gather and operate out of, but we have also said repeatedly and consistently that Israel must take measures to minimize civilian harm,” said a statement issued by National Security Council spokesperson Sean Savett.
