Israeli ministers, including Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, condemned the attack by Israelis against the Palestinian town of Jit.

Smotrich, who also works in the Defense Ministry as the head of settlement affairs, said the people who attacked the town “are not connected in any way to the settlement enterprise or to settlers.”

“They are criminals who should be dealt with to the full extent of the law by law enforcement authorities,” Smotrich says.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said those who participated in the rampage would be dealt with severely. Lest they claim they were simply fighting terrorism by their actions, Netanyahu added “Those who fight terrorism are only the IDF and security forces, not anyone else.”
He continued, “Those who have committed crimes will be caught and prosecuted.”
On Thursday, dozens of settlers began a rampage against the town and were stopped by Israeli troops and border police.
One Palestinian was reported dead and others were wounded.
