Report: Israel Approves Temporary Pause in Gaza Fighting for Polio Vaccinations
Israel has reportedly approved temporary pauses in fighting in the Gaza Strip to enable polio vaccinations for residents.
Channel 13 reports that this decision was made at the urging of US Secretary of State Antony Blinken during his visit last week. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and security officials authorized the ceasefires without consulting the security cabinet ministers.
While the Prime Minister’s Office denies authorizing a full ceasefire, it does confirm approving the designation of specific areas in the Strip for vaccination efforts. The Office asserts that this decision was presented to and supported by the security cabinet.
