An officer in the Paratroopers unit was killed, and 6 other soldiers were injured as a missile was misdirected on Monday.
A fighter jet was striking targets in Khan Younis at 6:30 on Monday morning when one of the missiles landed in a building where the troops were stationed.
The officer killed was identified as Lieutenant Shahar Ben-Nun, 21, from Petah Tikva, who was an officer in the Paratroopers Reconnaissance Unit.
Three were lightly wounded and three others were moderately injured.
The Israeli Airforce said the misdirection of the missile was not a typical occurrence and that tens of thousands of munitions are sent by fighter planes without an incident like this happening.
