The Shin Bet, Israel’s Security Agency, is investigating a deadly car explosion in Tel Aviv on Sunday night for possible terror links.
The car bomb detonated on Lehi Road, killing one middle-aged man and wounding a 33-year-old who was taken for treatment to the hospital.
Tel Aviv Police District Commander Peretz Amar told reporters that an initial probe revealed that the person who died “was not an innocent civilian but a person who carried an explosive device on him.”
“Is it criminal-related or an attack? It is too early to say. The identity of the person is critical to determine this,” stated Amar.
There is speculation that the deceased man had been planning a major attack that was thwarted at the last minute.
