US Special Envoy Amos Hochstein said that war with Israel on one side and Iran and Hezbollah on the other wasn’t inevitable, but could be avoided if Israel accepts the recent ceasefire and hostage release deal.
On a visit to Beirut, Hochstein described a meeting he had with parliament speaker Nabih Berri, a Hezbollah ally, and said, “He and I agreed there is no more time to waste and there are no more valid excuses from any party for any further delay” with the implementation of the framework agreement that is on the table.
He continued, “The deal would also help enable a diplomatic resolution here in Lebanon, which would prevent an outbreak of a wider war.”
“We must take advantage of this window for diplomatic action and diplomatic solutions. That time is now,” Hochstein concluded.
