Israel recruited a Hamas courier to inform them of the location of terror leader Mohammed Deif before his assassination.
Deif was Hamas’s military commander who had evaded assassination attempts several times and, along with now-dead Ismail Haniyeh and Yahya Sinwar, planned the October 7th massacre.
The Saudi news outlet Al Arabiya reports that the courier was charged with relaying written messages between Mohammed Shabana, head of Hamas’s Rafah division and other Hamas leaders.
An Israeli security official recruited the courier. The official showed the courier a photo of Mohammed Deif and asked to be informed of his location.
When the courier notified Israel of Deif’s in Khan Younis while they met with Rafa’a Salameh, head of the Khan Younis Brigade, Israel struck the place, killing both Deif and Salameh.
The courier has been arrested and is being interrogated by Hamas.
