An Orthodox Jewish man was stabbed outside of Lubavitch World Headquarters by a man yelling “Free Palestine” and issuing antisemitic death threats.
The man, who was later identified was Vincent Sumpter, was yelling “Free Palestine” at Orthodox Jews at 2 am, as reported by COLLive
He approached several young Orthodox men and said, “Do you want to die,” before stabbing one and attempting to stab the other.
The suspect was apprehended and taken into police custody.
The victim of the stabbing is in stable condition and is expected to recover, given the location of the stabbing and the prompt care by first responders and medical staff.
Rabbi Yaacov Behrman, a Chabad activist wrote on social media, ““This is an extremely serious incident.”
“The victim could have been killed. This act of hateful violence highlights the dangerous impact of anti-Semitic incitement and hate propagated by some local politicians and leaders in New York and across the United States.”
