Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has reportedly asked Iran’s Supreme Leader Al Khamenei to avoid attacking Israel, according to Iran International.
Iran has threatened a severe retaliation for the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran last week, and although world leaders have urged restraint, Khamenei has doubled down on the threats.
However, there are some reports that Kahmenei is reconsidering an attack that could lead to an escalation resulting in all-out war.
According to an Iranian report, Masoud Pezeshkian, considered to be a reformer, may be prevailing on the leader to back off from the threat.
The report says the president told the religious leader that a attack could turn the citizens against the government and could bring about Iran’s collapse.
