The IDF discovered a massive tunnel system on the Gaza-Egyptian border, with some tunnels large enough to drive vehicles through.
The 3-meter high tunnels were part of a vast network, including dozens of other tunnels.
The tunnels were discovered by the IDF’s elite Yahalom unit which is working to prevent arms smuggling into Gaza through Egypt using tunnels.
The Philadelphi corridor is a buffer zone that runs the length of the 14-km Gaza-Egypt border. It was created in 2006 to prevent weapons smuggling after Israel disengaged from the Strip.
“The IDF will thoroughly destroy all underground infrastructure in the Philadelphi area and will act resolutely to prevent their formation in the future,” the army said.
