An Iranian official told CBS that Hezbollah was changing its policy and would strike at civilian targets further within Israel.
A spokesman for the Permanent Mission of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the United Nations said it would go beyond “certain limits in their military operations, meaning that confining their actions to border areas and shallow zones, targeting primarily military objectives.”
Instead, “Hezbollah will choose both broader and deeper targets and will not restrict itself solely to military targets and means.”
Following Israel’s assassination of Hezbollah commander Fuad Shukr, who is thought to be responsible for a rocket attack that killed 12 children in the Golan Heights, Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah said the Jewish State had crossed a “red line” vowed “a new phase,” and said, “The response will come, whether spread out or simultaneously.”
