Lufthansa Flight from Munich Refuses to Land in Tel Aviv

Travelers from Munich to Tel Aviv were left stranded when the Lufthansa flight crew refused to land in the planned destination, according to a Channel 12 report.

The flight crew said they wanted to avoid landing in Israel.

Initially, they told the travelers that they were landing in Cyprus “for technical reasons” and would assess the situation and decide whether to continue on to Tel Aviv.

After spending a period of time grounded, the travelers were told the plane was returning to journey.

Passengers were given the option to disembark at Cyprus, but were informed their luggage would be sent back to Germany.

Lufthansa said the plane could not continue to Tel Aviv “as a precautionary measure due to security activity.”

After the incident, Lufthansa announced that flights to Tel Aviv would be suspended between August 1st and August 8th.

They also said their flights to Beirut would be suspended until August 12th.

: Lufthansa also announced that passengers could cancel tickets free of charge.
