Israel’s Foreign Minister called on NATO to expel Turkey after its president Recep Tayyip Erdogan threatened to invade Israel to forcibly stop the war in Gaza.
Erdogan’s claimed to have a precedent with its military actions in Azerbaijan and Libya.
FM Israel Katz said, “The US and the Western world must denounce Erdogan and curb his destructive actions” and said Turkey had joined Iran’s “Axis of evil.”
On Sunday, Erdogan said in a meeting of his political party, “We must be very strong so that Israel can’t do these…things to Palestine.”
He added, “Just like we entered Karabakh [Azerbaijan], just like we entered Libya, we might do similar to them.”
This isn’t the first time leaders have called on NATO to discipline or expel Turkey.
In 2018, NATO members, including the US, France and Germany condemned Turkey’s actions in Syria and attacks on Kurdish forces.
