Maya Regev, who was released from Hamas captivity in November, recounts how Palestinian doctors would intentionally cause her pain when ‘treating’ her.

Regev suffered from a bullet wound, and a doctor would pour chlorine and vinegar on the wounds and apply pressure
In addition, she reported that a doctor took a knife and started cutting into her wounds.

During a Channel 12 interview, she said, “When they were changing my bandages they would give me ketamine and pethidine intravenously so that I wouldn’t scream. But they’re not really pain relievers, they’re muscle relaxants. So I couldn’t respond, but I could feel everything,”

However she managed to convince her captors to bring her brother Itay and her friend Omer, who is still in captivity, into the room when she was being treated.

Omer would comfort her so she would not scream and Maya said, “Omer is alive, he will come home.”

Her brother Itay reported having a bullet removed without anesthesia and being told he would be killed if he made a noise.

Maya’s road to recovery will be a long one because of fungus growing in her leg and other forms of medical negligence that happened in Gaza.

Maya says her one goal is to walk again.
