In Wall Street Journal’s coverage of the largest deal in the history of Google and Israel, mention of the Startup Nation is conspicuously absent.

Globes notes this wasn’t the case in WSJ’s 2013 coverage of acquisition of “Israeli traffic navigation app” Waze.

At that time, Globes observes “Israel’s creativity and entrepreneurship had already featured extensively in dozens of articles describing the unique ecosystem.”

However in Google’s $23 billion bid to acquire Israeli cyber security startup Wiz, the word “Israel” is not mentioned

Although such articles usually provide a full profile of the company’s founders, there is no mention that the Israelis behind Wiz –Assaf Rappaport, Yinon Costica, Ami Luttwak and Roy Reznik– met at an IDF induction Center on their first day of military service

WSJ also mentions Wiz’s New York office but not their original office on Israel

Globes concludes that the absence of Israel from news of the deal in WSJ reflects shifting opinion about Israel as the war in Gaza rages on.
