As US Vice President Kamala Harris secures enough delegates for the Democratic nomination following President Biden’s exit from the presidential race, two Jewish governors have been slated as possible VP picks.
Pennsylvania’s Josh Shapiro and Illinois’ JB Pritzker were both named as possible choices.
The last time a Jewish politician was selected as a running mate on a major party ticket was the late Senator Joe Liberman, who ran with Al Gore in his unsuccessful 2000 presidential campaign.
The vice presidential pick will have to face questions about the Israel-Hamas war and rising antisemitism, and will also have to debate Trump’s vice presidential pick JD Vance.
