The findings of an IDF investigation into the attack on Kfar Azza on October 7th found that soldiers were left without command and chaos characterized Israel’s military response to the Hamas invasion.
At the peak of the fighting, 20 different units and battalions were called to Kfar Azza to eliminate terrorists but without instructions on what to do.
Many soldiers were unaware of the need to rescue Israelis trapped in their homes.
The investigation also showed that there were a number of civilians and soldiers killed by friendly fire, but a specific number hasn’t been given.
Last week, the IDF published an investigation into a mistake that occurred on Kibbutz Be’eri, where residents had to fight for hours before the IDF arrived.
In Hamas’s invasion of Kfar Azza, 64 people were killed, including 7 from the local alert squad, 19 were taken hostage, and currently 5 are still in Gaza.
It is estimated 400 to 600 terrorists invaded Kfar Azza, arriving in waves after the first 100 overwhelmed the local security forces.
