Following the attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump on Saturday night, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu opened up about the “flood” of death threats he and his family have received.
As anti-government protests outside of the Prime Minister’s residence in Jerusalem grow more intense, Netanyahu says he, his family, and associates are being faced with violent threats.
“We are witnessing a flood of explicit threats of murder and violence against the Prime Minister and members of his family, and against ministers and public officials,” Netanyahu said.
Netanyahu criticized the lack of action on these threats and claims that the standards to protect him are more lax than they should be.
“These are not just flagrant criminal offenses; they constitute a direct and explicit threat to democracy. But basically, apart from a few small exceptions, nothing tangible has been done. I turn to the Attorney General and the State Attorney – this is your job.”
