Although Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas held the US and Israel responsible for military actions in Gaza, in a rare move, he blamed Hamas for continuing the war, as reported by Reuters.

These remarks signal a growing divide between Abbas’ Fatah party and Hamas.

On Saturday, the IDF launched a strike against Mohammed Deif, the military head of Hamas, and it is not confirmed whether or not he was killed.

Although at the beginning of Abbas’s statement, he blamed Israel, he added, “The presidency sees that by escaping national unity, and providing free pretexts to the occupation state, the Hamas movement is a partner in bearing legal, moral and political responsibility for the continuation of the Israeli war of genocide in Gaza Strip.”

These comments arrive as reports on the hostage negotiations signal that the PA-linked force may rule Gaza after the war, according to The Washington Post.
