The operator of an AirBnb in Oxford, England canceled a guest’s reservation after they found out they were Israeli, as reported by Yedioth Aharanoth.
Author and anthropologist Dr. Darya Maoz made a reservation for July at an AirBnb in Oxford two months ago.
Shortly before she was scheduled to arrive, Moaz received a message from the AirBnb operator, who called herself Anila, bluntly saying that she should cancel her reservation because she was Israeli.
“Hello, I’m sorry. I didn’t realise you were coming from Israel. Could you please book a different house? I will give you a full refund,” Anila wrote.
Maoz responded, “I can’t. There is no place left at all. It is illegal to do so. I don’t believe you are asking for that. I am very insulted.”
Anila said, “I’m sorry, but I can not condone the war. I have my principals (sic), I am a Muslim. I can not allow that.”
Maoz said she was horrified by the “racist and antisemitic” response and commented, “I was in shock. Who would believe I would receive such a message, canceling our reservation right before our trip, for such a racist and antisemitic reason.”
