Why Hasn’t Israel Intercepted More Hezbollah Missiles?

Despite thousands launched from Gaza, there have been very few Israel casualties.

During Iran’s unprecedented missile attack against Israel this spring, there was only one casualty on Israeli soil.

Israel was able to intercept most of the missiles from Gaza and Iran, and yet Hezbollah rockets have killed Israelis, more recently a couple in the Golan Heights, and have sparked destructive fires.

The question arises as to why Israel hasn’t intercepted more Hezbollah rockets.

After an investigation by the IDF following the death of Nir and Noa Baranes in the Golan Heights, the conclusion was that the fatal attack occurred in an area where there wasn’t missile defense protection and limited alarm capabilities.

Nir and Noa Baranes were driving in an “open area” not sheltered by defense systems and where interceptors aren’t sent to destroy rockets.
The investigation concluded that more measures need to be taken to increase security in the area, including signs, instructions, and public service announcements on how to stay safe in these “open areas.”

In addition, people traveling close to military bases in the north where Hezbollah often attacks, should be warned of the hazards.
