On Tuesday, thousands of people from all walks of life gathered at the Ohel in Queens, the burial place of the Lubavitcher Rebbe Menachem Mendel Schneerson, for the 30th Gimmel Tammuz commemoration.
This day marks the 30th year of the Rebbe’s passing, one of the most esteemed and well-loved rabbis of the 20th century.
Menachem Mendel Schneersohn, also known as “The Rebbe,” took a central leadership role for the Jewish generation in the aftermath of the Holocaust.
The Rebbe was passionate about bringing unaffiliated Jews back to observance, encouraging “mitzvah campaigns” to strengthen Jewish life and emphasized the Redemption and the coming of the Messiah.
Thousands would gather weekly in front of 770 Eastern Parkway to ask advice, and receive a dollar and a blessing.
On Monday, 7,500 men, women, and children gathered outside 770 Eastern Parkway to honor the Rebbe on Gimmel Tammz.
Rabbi Moshe Greenwald served as the MC. Performances were by Shlomo Simcha, Berel Zuker and Boruch Sholom Blesofsky. Music by Avremi G Orchestra. Video presentations by JEM.
