A terrorist stabbing at a mall in the northern Israeli city of Karmiel left one off-duty soldier dead and another seriously wounded.
The terrorist from a neighboring Arab village was killed at the scene by the soldier who later died from his wounds.
The murdered soldier was Sgt. Aleksandr Iakiminskyi, 19, a truck driver in the 188th Armored Brigade’s 71st Battalion from Nahariya.
The wounded soldier, who was also from the 71st battalion, is being treated at a hospital in Nahariya.
The terrorist stabbed Iakiminskyi several times in the neck before attacking the other soldier, and Iakiminsky shot and killed the terrorist during the attack.
The terrorist’s name was Jawwad Omar Rubia, an Israeli citizen from the nearby Arab town of Nahf.
His family, some of whom were working at the mall at the time of the attack, were arrested by Israeli police.
