A report released last week disproves a common narrative about the war in Gaza–that a famine is resulting from Israel’s military campaign.
The Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) organization confirmed there was no famine, which flies in the face of accusations lodged against Israel by protesters, world leaders, and the UN.
IPC predicted in March that 1.1 million Gazans would be suffering from the highest level of food insecurity by July. Still, the June report proved that famine in Gaza was not imminent.
Nonetheless, the prediction was seized upon by anti-Israel activists and has influenced the narrative about the war between Israel and Hamas.
